Zambia Orphans

According to UNICEF,
there were 1.2 million
Orphans in this country
of 1
2 million people.

In addition, it is reported
that there are 96,000
'street kids' in Zambia.

Less the 500,000
citizens of Zambia, or
less than 5% are

employed full time.

Nearly 1,000,000
people in Zambia are
HIV/AIDS
positive.

These circumstances
make it very
challenging
on the ground to
properly
care for the
Orphans of Zambia.
Our mission is to provide loving
support for Orphans fostering a
greater capacity for physical,
spiritual,and emotional healing
and growth.

Our comprehensive plan includes
building
awareness for the plight
of
Orphans, providing care for
Orphans,
and encouraging the
adoption of these children.
OUR BEGINNINGS
Global Orphan Relief (GO!) is a Christian relief agency focused
on serving Orphans.

On May 4th, 2005, the Nordstrom family was blessed with the
birth of Faith Anastasia Nordstrom, but for some unknown
reason, they were only blessed with Faith's natural presence for
14 days.  Faith was faced with a myriad of medical issues
during her time, but what she did for the Nordstrom
family, friends, and for people outside the immediate sphere of
influence was incredible.  In fact, her gift to us was nothing short
of supernatural.  Faith reminded us that “
above all else love”.

As a result of this experience, the Global Orphan Relief
organization was born.  Out of obedience to what God would
have them do, not based on their previous ministry experience,
nor on
their desire 'to do something good', but simply following
what their 'Hearts' prompted them to do, Global Orphan Relief
was established in July of 2005.  This organization was
established to
serve the needs of orphans, where they are now,
assisting them as they may unite with adopting families, and
building awareness through various methods about their need.
OUR HISTORY
After filing the proper information with the state we set out to
help
Orphans and completed our filing with the IRS as a 501(c)
(3).  We originally organized as World Orphan Relief, and in
2008 completed the change to Global Orphan Relief.

In November, through a partnership with
Orphan's Hope we
provided
blankets and other items to Orphans in Myanmar.

Our first mission was "Christmas in Juarez" where we visited
Casa de la Nueva Vida and blessed the Orphans there with
Christmas presents.  In addition, we provided school supplies,
hygiene items, and cleaning supplies to both this home, and
Rancho Los Amigos.  The Nordstrom Family represented
Global Orphan Relief as they stayed at the orphanage over
Christmas.

February 28, 2006 a team left for Zambia, Africa.  Scott A.
Nordstrom, our founder and president, and Rick Vigil of Fort
Myers, Florida,  set out to serve Orphans in Zambia on our first
trip to Africa.  Work was done at a local Orphanage in Ndola,
Zambia, and some time was spent coordinating a second trip.
We did in fact travel back to Zambia in January of 2007, and
spent nearly two weeks in Zambia preparing to begin work at
House of Faith Orphanage.  Two separate teams served in
Silembe, Zambia, in 2008 as we continued to develop our first
Orphanage project.
MESSAGE
A Message from our Founder ~ February 14, 2007

Two years ago today, my wife Despina was put on bed-rest as
we were expecting our fourth child.  Despina was desperate to
do anything that might help save our unborn child.

I soon began to work from home, trying to maintain my
business while doing my best to manage the other children of
our clan.  Between this time and the birth of Faith some 3
months later, Despina I spent more time praying than any other
time in our lives.

We had no idea of the journey that God was preparing us for,
or the pain that He would bring us through.  So much has
changed in the last two years.  Things that were so important
at the time no longer really matter, and things that were not
even considered are now forefront in my mind.

I have been to Mexico three times in the last fourteen
months, and to Zambia twice in the last eleven months.
Children that I have not even met are now priorities for me, and
the ones that I have been honored to meet I wish were able to
come home with us to have a home.

God has amazed me, but will amaze me and you even more as
we set-out to accomplish things that we can now only imagine.
Yes, we have made a difference to a select few, but I am more
compelled by things we have yet to do; the children we have
yet to serve.  These things we do are not only for the here and
now, but have eternal implications.

Children like Marcos, Sergio, Mari, Alfredo, Juan, Katrina,
Justin, and so many others are so precious in His sight, and
each uniquely designed for His purpose.  Some say that I am a
romantic because I so believe in happy endings.  There are
even so many of you that I have yet to meet during this
journey, but you will be in my prayers until that day comes.

I trust that you will somehow become involved in our mission to
serve His children, the Orphans.

Blessings,  -Scott
